17-0328 Space Systems Requirements Engineer

Celeris Systems is seeking a Space Systems Requirements Engineer with technical experience to join our team of diverse Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) experts in El Segundo, CA.  The SE&I Team provides specialized engineering, analysis, operations support, and subject matter expertise to various directorates.  Within the SE&I Team, the Engineer will report SE&I Enterprise Systems Engineering Requirements Branch Chief and will be responsible for interfacing with the GPS Systems Engineering Requirements team at the Directorate. This individual will identify, control, maintain, and evolve an enterprise requirements baseline reflecting Government-approved requirements at the external and inter‐program level of the Air Force Space enterprise and maintain these requirements in the DOORS tool.  A successful Requirements Engineer will possess knowledge and experience with space and ground systems engineering, system concepts of operations, requirements development, and requirements management activities. Candidate will provide SE&I Requirements Development and Requirements Management support. Major duties of the position include:

  • Working with teammates, customers, and stakeholders to identify and manage critical dependencies between programs and projects.

  • Supporting establishment of the system’s technical baseline and ensure changes to the approved baseline are allocated, communicated and synchronized with contractors’ technical baselines

  • Ensuring all operational, enterprise, program, and interface requirements are appropriately documented and maintained in the DOORS database and flowed to the correct specifications and interfaces

  • Validating flow-down of intra-program requirements from the system specification for bi-directional traceability between the requirements baseline and the source documents

  • Identifying all unmatched DOORS requirements for Government resolution and verify that requirements traceability and verification requirements are met

  • Capturing derived requirements and traceability between capabilities, architectures, interface documents and specifications using IBM Rational DOORS 9.6

  • Interfacing and collaborating with SE&I team members, prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, and members of the US Air Force. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or Math or equivalent engineering experience (4 years) within the aerospace industry 9+ years relevant experience with space, ground or user segments of DoD or other Government space programs

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Candidate should have experience with GPS systems/elements or experience working Space-based systems/navigation systems.

  • Candidate should have experience with requirements database tools to develop and manage requirements, perform traces, and provide products to support members of a system development team.

  • Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to interface with different personalities in a range of positions, including many at very senior levels

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics

  • Experience designing and testing space vehicles or command and control systems

  • GPS experience U.S. Government systems acquisition experience

  • Active/Current DoD Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance

Wage/Salary: This is a full time position, wages commensurate with experience
