The Technical Writer will support the NUWC Keyport C/20T Projects by documenting the Department’s Technology Mapping and Sprints Processes. Will assist in writing documentation supporting the department Technical Capability Health Assessment. Tasking includes: develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs and Technical Desk Guides concerned with work methods and procedures. Receives assignment from government supervisors and will receive inputs for documentation from all levels of government personnel including Department Heads, Engineers, Program Managers and Business Professionals.
The Technical Writer must have a general working knowledge of Engineering Technology terminology in order to organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology; and review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
This worker may perform the following tasks: maintain records and files of work and revisions, assist in laying out material and writing Technical Briefs and official department responses to Data Calls. Must possess an understanding of the needs of the organization supported, an analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to write appropriate documentation, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
A successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to multi task, have an aptitude and understanding of Technical Documents, is able to work independently or part of a team, has good computer skills including Power Point, has a willingness to follow company and regulatory policies, and desires to learn new skills. The position is located in and supports NUWC Keyport, WA and does involve up to 2 Trips per year to IMA destinations in San Diego, CA and Hawaii.
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Prior Technical Writing experience of 2-3 years preferred.Applicants are required to pass a U.S. Government background security check or hold an active security clearance.
Wage/Salary: This is a full time position, wages commensurate with experience.
